Kohti syksyä (Towards Autumn)

Chamber piece for Bodhran drum, rice, vibraphone, and flute. 

Commission of Urkin piilopirtti.

You can find numerous sculptures in the forest of Urkin piilopirtti. One of the sculptures is called "Syksy" (the Autumn) and I was inspired by this work of art. The sculpture consists of two leaves lying in the ground as they were just fallen from the tree nearby. They adapt to the environment and do not stand out.

The music starts also from the silence, sounds of nature. Different periods melt to each other and then the piece adapts to the surroundings again. The piece was planned to be played in the forest, near the sculpture.
